The Bachelor of Science in Public Administration program prepares students for employment in government and nonprofit organizations that require various administrative skills including federal, state and local government bodies and other public sector agencies. Courses focus on building skills around the topics of budgeting, personnel administration, financial administration, organizational management, public service leadership, laws, political institutions, government institutions, ethics, and global awareness.
The Public Administration degree programme students will be able to advance the concept of “the public good,” learn to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of public policies, consider the interests of stakeholders and influence those who make public policy happen.
The Program aims to impart students with the knowledge of public organizations, constitutional framework, formulation of public policies and their implementation, and the like. During the coursework, students get to learn about programs and policies brought forward by governments across the globe and how they were formed and implemented. You will also learn about the democratic values of a country and through case studies and interning opportunities in government departments, you will also get an insider’s view of how public administration works in a country.
Objectives
Core Courses
Outcome 1: Graduates will demonstrate basic understanding of theories, concepts and practices relevant to public administration and its sub-fields.
Outcome 2: Graduates will have acquired critical thinking and problem solving skills that are applied in the public service realm.
Outcome 3: Graduates will demonstrate the appropriate skills to be able to administer public programs in their chosen sub field of public administration in particular public management, healthcare administration, nonprofit management, and environmental administration.
Outcome 4: Graduates will assess their knowledge and experience of ethics and integrity in public service and reflect on ways to incorporate public service values in administering agencies, policies and programs.
Outcome 5: Graduates will demonstrate proficiency in clear oral and written communication by presenting succinct, well-organized materials and analysis tailored to the needs of their audience.

- Students will demonstrate understanding of the environment in which governmental organizations operate.
- Students will provide theoretical as well as practical knowledge on management of public organizations, including personnel and financial management that are necessary for public officials.

Healthcare Administration
- Students will understand the healthcare environment and healthcare systems and organizations.

Nonprofit Management

Environmental Policy and Administration
- Students will demonstrate understanding of environmental-based theories, concepts, science, laws, and regulations that guide natural resource agencies and organizations.
- Students will demonstrate critical analytical proficiency and skillful application of environmental science and principles of sustainability.
- Students will demonstrate practical knowledge and understanding of varied research methods and models that contribute to the environmental policy-making process.
- Students will demonstrate expertise and proficiency in communicating and interacting productively across academic disciplines, private and public organizations, and diverse public audiences regarding contemporary issues of environmental importance.
